Two Turkish street animals Mavis & Minnie with no future to look forward to , both only in their first few months of life - please help them - they are both looking for their forever home and we are raising the funds to get them over here where they will be safe for ever.
At just 4 weeks old tiny black X labrador pup MAVIS along with her brothers and sisters were abandoned at the local animal shelter near Fethiye South West Turkey, all were subsequently re-homed, but little MAVIS was returned a few weeks after, as she had become ill. Mavis was poorly for a number of weeks but when better, was moved from being on her own to be able to roam free with the other dogs in the shelter. Not long after this time she picked up a particularly bad strain of kennel cough, coming on top of her being previously poorly, her little body just couldn’t take it and she was rushed to the vets seriously ill.
After treatment little MAVIS was too ill to be returned to the shelter and a volunteer working alongside the local Animal Charity ‘Animal Aid Fethiye’ offered to take her home for the night as she wasn’t expected to live and if little Mavis were to pass she would be loved and in the comfort of a ‘home’. The foster carer stayed with her all through the night and very unexpectedly she did make it through to the morning surprising all concerned including the vet. From that day this little girl has fought her way back to health with lots of love from her foster mummy, lots of care from the vet which has been funded by Animal Aid Fethiye.
She is now a healthy little girl, who is learning every day and we are told, a delight to foster.
Unfortunately the long term outlook for Mavis is not so bright, no home has been found for her due to the vast numbers of homeless dogs in the area and without an adopter coming forward her only option is to be returned to the animal shelter where she was placed as a baby, for those helping her this is simply not an option.
The shelter is run by the Belediye, ( a kind of municipality/town hall), Animal AidFethiye charity volunteers help out there with the dogs and cats BUT NO food is provided by the Belediye for the animals.... Some of The local restaurants and shops take their left overs and Animal Aid Fethiye fundraise to help provide some food. The shelter has limited resources for veterinary care offering mainly just neutering and minor injury treatments, more importantly there is disease at the shelter and no funds for vaccinations for prevention of disease.
Mavis is looking for her forever home.... can you be the person to secure her future
Mavis is now about 24 weeks old , neutered and would suit most homes but as she is still lacking in confidence, any potential owner will need to be able to give her lots of time, attention and tlc.She is a gentle dog with a beautiful nature, getting on well with other dogs and children.
Minnie a small black and white kitten was found abandoned by us in the same area, Fethiye South West Turkey, frightened, starving and flea ridden, a little black and white bundle who looks far smaller than her five months. Minnie has o future to look forward to if she stays in Turkey only a life of extreme hardship, if she survives.....
Minnie deserves to have a home where she will have cuddles and love and be safe for ever, with the help of a local cat rescue, Animal friends Catterick Garrison we hope to find Minnie that haven...... But only if we can raise the funds to get her to the UK.
Minnie has been neutered and had the necessary injections and will be ready to fly over at the end of February to her forever home....
Both pets have started their course of injections required for travel to the UK and will be ready to fly over at the end of February and need homes to come to, they are currently being cared for by foster carers
Please help if you can by donating to help pay for this, even small amounts add up
Its only one dog and one kitten......... you may say 'what difference will it make' ?
But to Mavis and Minnie it will make a life time of difference.....
