My name is Nabil, and you can call me Bill. I came from a middle-class family and I am currently in my final year studying Diploma of Engineering Technology in Aeroplane Maintenance at Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology ( UniKL MIAT). I come from a small town in Sabah, Malaysia called Tuaran. I live with a big family and have one elder brother and one younger sister. My mother is a Mathematics and Science teacher and my father is a laboratory assistant in school and runs his own business.

My parents always told me that education is very important thing in life. They work hard to support our family and to provide good learning and schooling for my siblings and I. They want us to get the best education. I am very grateful that they are very supportive towards our education.

My interest in aircraft has been reinforced by the subjects I study which form the foundation of engineering in general and specifically aircraft maintenance engineering. The benefits of having Aircraft Maintenance Engineering degree cannot be over emphasised, apart from providing a sound basis for employment, it is a subject that will help me to turn my ideas into reality through the principles of science and technology.

Most scholarships in Malaysia offer students to study in a specified course at certain institutions that is approved by the organiser of the scholarships programme.

I have always had an interest and enthusiasm in engineering since I was about 7 years old. As I grew older, I decided to become a unique engineer and not a typical engineer. Then I thought about being a specialist engineer in an airplane. I chose to pursue my studies in UniKL MIAT as I wanted to develop my knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering through the subjects taught here such as Landing Gear System, Aircraft Electrical System, Turbine Engine, and more. My current CGPA is 3.67.

Apart from that, I am also active in extra-curricular activities. I am in the Taekwondo club and I am also a member of Penyayang (the Caring Club) in UniKL MIAT and have done various charity and volunteery work such as visiting the Autism Center, volunteering for Charity Run and National Sports Day. I am also a part of the Tennis Club team. While in high school ( SMKA Tun Ahmadshah), I was the deputy president of a Robotic Club and a member of Rocket Club. Our school has received a certificate from the Malaysia Book of Records after 209 water rockets assembled by students and teachers successfully flew into the sky. This program was organized by the school’s Rocket Club and I was one of the participating students in 2014.

My hobby is playing musical instruments. I fill my spare time to play piano and guitar at home. During the semester break, I worked as a babysitter. Mothers who work will pay me to care for their children. I was given the responsibility to send them to school and tutor them at home. I taught them how to make gliders and play with small parachutes made of plastic.

Pursuing my studies in University of South Wales in 2019 is an opportunity to explore the culture of the community there and at the same time can further develop my knowledge as the university is an institution that offers good Aircraft Maintenance Engineering degree and has approved Maintenance Training Organisation status. One advantage I have is the ability to solve mathematical and physical problems. I feel that higher education will sharpen and develop my above skills further. These interests are the reasons why aircraft maintenance engineering would be a firm interest to me.

The following are my expenses needed in total for 1 year:

Tuition fee = £16,200

Based on the conditional offer, I should expect to pay approximately £1015 per month of my course up to a maximum of 9 months (£9135). This amount needs to be available to me, to cover my living expenses (which will include your accommodation).

The total amount I need is : £16,200 Tuition fee + £9135 expenses for one year = £25335

I need to put a target up to £27212. Because £27212 - 6.9% GoGetFunding fee is = £25334.37
