My name is Nqobile Mdlalose. I am 21 years old, originating from rural KwaNongoma in KwaZulu-Natal. I've graduated with a BSc degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry in 2018. I then went on to complete a Honours degree in Biochemistry in 2019. I have now been accepted to pursue a Masters degree in the school of laboratory medicine and medical sciences at the university of KwaZulu natal (UKZN).
I lost my parents when I was still in Primary school and have since had to fend for myself. I was able to make it into university as I have always been a hard worker and always performed well. I am currently faced with a difficult predicament and unable to register for the Masters program. This is because in the first 2 years of my studies I was unable to obtain funding/scholarship. I was allowed to continue studying with my results being withheld by the university. This made it difficult for me to apply for funding as I was never able to produce my results. This has lead to an accumulation of my student debt amounting to R135 716.60.
I've tried everything possible to reduce this debt but it is too much for me to handle. Now it has reached a point where I am not allowed to register as the university requires at least 15% of the debt paid up front before I am permitted to register.
I plead with anyone who is able to assist to do so. May you be rewarded for your kindness.
