Please Help Me Get to England and take care of my husband’s funeral

Update posted by Kat Renee Kittel On Jan 19, 2020

Thank you for all your kindness and generosity which helped me get my passport expedited... (pic is yellow oh well) arrived a few days ago... And I now have my real ID so I can get on a plane. Closing this campaign soon due to high fees and the need for immediate help is not as great as it was... My brother had to take out a credit card to get my flight which will be on the 6th of February from Kansas and will arrive in England the next day. We were able to get a flight out of Wichita vs having to drive a long ways to KC by going through a travel agent who was able to get a cheaper flight... However she failed to book my flight in my full name which is on my passport. I will have to contact her tomorrow to get that fixed.

The sad part is I will not be there for my husband's funeral service which will be on the 27th. I will send flowers and a letter to be read... :-( I will be bringing his urn back with me. United Airlines has a service that will help me do that. I will be finding out more of how that works and try to bring as much as possible back with me in the check in luggage I am allowed. Still have vet bills to cover and hoping to raise funds a different way.

I will be thanking everyone personally through what ever contact info I have... Again thank you for helping me through this difficult time. Can always help by gift thru paypal to laugh_safely at yahoo dot com.

May God bless you for your generosity in 2020. -Katie

Some Good News - do not have to go to Dallas. I applied for my passport here in town and will take 2 to 3 weeks to arrive. So am trying to leave for England on the 6th of February or later vs in January. Cost for passport was about $263.00. Minus the ten percent funding fees, the amount from your help was $334.49, leaving about $71.00 left to help toward the plane trip or to pay my bills. Thank you all for helping me get this far. At least now I will have my real ID - driver's license and passport which I can use against the woman who stole my identity. I will be getting a case number and police report hopefully tomorrow so I can report the fraud to the IRS.

I went to the Social Security office on Friday and told them about the Social Security fraud of my Identity and showed them Frank's death certificate. I have to wait until my real ID comes in to get a new Social Security card. Because of Frank's death, no income will be coming in at the end of January and every month we have about $800 in bills, including Care Credit and other credit bills that were used to help pets and owners in need and our foster pets (Scratch Pay for Jazzpur's medical treatment when he died last October), utility bills, house insurance, payments for medical bills, etc. Right now I am short about $200 to cover bills. My brother is helping with groceries and needs for the foster cats - he can only help so much... As far as spouse benefits, the earliest appointment to apply is in March, leaving two months of no income for sure, and because he was a British citizen and away from our home, I don't know what benefits I will be allowed to have if any. Found out that no benefits will be coming from England, and Frank thought there would be. I do have a settlement from a car accident in 2018 that will be having a deposition soon and then hopefully not go to court, yet if there is anything left past the medical bills for the accident - must go to catch up on property taxes for my house so I don't lose my home which is paid for. I will to try to consolidate our debt into one lower payment but I need to find right company to help. Still leaves me with no income. I will be selling everything I have until I can possibly find a job or find a way to make income from home. My mother is disabled and relies on me, making it more difficult to work full time.

As for my plane ticket - my brother may have to apply for credit to pay, because need to book asap. A local travel agent had quoted a price for January 27th that was only $862. Maybe she can find a similar price or lower for February. However, the agency charges $100 if all they do is book plane fare, yet it's trustworthy and they do the legwork and can tell me what to expect for luggage and carry-ons and find out if gluten free meals are available. When I checked myself for good pricing, I didn't know what website to trust and most of them didn't give enough information.

On a good note, the 8 foster kittens will be going to the rescue clinic on the 31st of January. Gina still needs her first booster shot vaccination. The other 7 have had one booster shot. I am so thankful to have saved the lives of these 8 sweeties, one of which is special needs and requires help to walk. You can read about them at kfmnewz.blogspot.com or search for Friends of Katiez Furry Mewz on Facebook. Speaking of Facebook, I may start a funding help there because the fees are less. I am thankful for Go Get Funding because your help was available immediately. Now it may be okay if takes a few days to receive... - Hugs and Purrs, Katie.

Does anyone live in or know someone in the Dallas, Fort Worth area? Looking for somewhere to stay overnight and catch a plane from DFW the next day. I am trying very hard to get things sorted out and get to England the end of January. I did find out that if I use my mobile phone I get a very good discount rate, just less than $600 if I use Air Canada in Dallas. I am checking to see if any other airlines are getting a discount through T-Mobile because Air Canada is changing their reservation system and I couldn't get a hold of them over the weekend. . Need to know size of carry on allowed.

My "Real ID" Drivers License was ordered today - takes 2 weeks to arrive - and now am trying to get a new passport expedited - takes six hours form Wichita to get to Dallas where I have to go to get an expedited passport with proof that I have plane ticket to England and proof of his death... And our friend in England did get the proof of death certificates yesterday and sent me one by email. I will go into the Social Security office tomorrow and let them know of my husband passed away.

Trying to figure out how soon I can get an emergency appointment for my passport and from what I understand I have to go to Dallas. Hoping to combine getting passport with going down to Dallas to to get the flight. Thank you all so much for helping me so far to fund my flight. Yet only have about half the air fare (minus 30 dollars in fees.) And my passport will cost about $200 plus the gas and ride down to Texas...Looking at an immdediate need of about $800 just to get my paperwork and the flight.

Hoping that my passport being stolen and someone using my identity to work in 2017-2018 doesn't cause problems with the passport. Monday, I went to the office where this girl had worked (much younger than me)- and Human Resources showed me the ID she used. One of them was my stolen Social Security card and the other was a drivers license with all of her actual Info - how she got that with my Social is beyond me... and she didn't even bother to try to fake my signature - they didn't match!! I have to file for fraud report to the IRS and make police report and also tell Social Security.

I still need to find a black dress and get comfortable shoes - mine are old and falling apart. I didn't make it to the support group last night. There is another meeting tomorrow at a different location in the morning. I may be able to make that...

Update: My adopted brother drove me to Topeka, Kansas yesterday where I got official copies of my birth certificate and marriage license. Monday I will get a "real ID" driver's license that I need before obtaining passport. Hopefully on Monday, the family friend in England will be able to get the death certificate sorted out. She has to go with the neighbor who was listed at Hillingdon Hospital in Uxbridge England as next of kin (my name was missing from their records still. I thought that had gotten sorted out last time he was at Hillingdon). I still need to contact the Social Security office about his death and to get a new copy of my Social Security card.

I also saw the friend who had done my taxes for 2018 because the state of Kansas had adjusted my income by 12,069 dollars!!! and said I owed $172.00 in taxes. We called the office of revenue to find out that someone had used my social security number at Rollings Hills Country Club here in Wichita and also used my name?!? We are filing a fraudulent use of my Social to IRS and waiting to talk to Rolling Hills on Monday. This person may still be employed at Rolling Hills and may be trying to do the same thing this year... My friend who did the taxes paid what "I owed" which should be returned to her when the fraudulent use of my social security number is sorted out. This all may be related to the theft of my previous passport - this woman cold be using a faked copy of my passport for ID.

There is a group called Good Grief of Kansas that is meeting on Monday evening. I hope to go there and find some support.
