Please, help me get to Canada!

Hey there! My name is Michel and I'm from Mexico. I want to get to Canada to finish my studies, and as a result of a terrible experience here in my country. If you give me only 5 minutes, I will tell you my story.

Since a very young age, I decided to drop out from school because I needed to work to help my family with money. As I grew up I had to work so I could pay my studies and to take money home. But I knew since a very young age, I wanted to be an entrepreneur and become a business man so I could give quality jobs to a lot of people and help them to raise their quality of life. I have always wanted to study in Canada because I love their culture, their taching quality, their people, everything; so my plan since very little has been to save money so I can study in that beautiful country.

At the age of 18, I took the courage to open a little business of food. I was doing good, but because of the lack of experience and family issues, I shut down the business. Nevertheless, I finally understood that I was capable to swim against the current in order to achieve big things in life.

For the next 5 years I got different jobs. I wanted to get the most experience I could, that may help me to run again my business. Everything since customer service, to human resources and sales. During that time I wasn't able to study at school, but I learned to be autodidact so in my free time I usually read or watched videos of different subjects that may be usefull.

Finally, at the age of 23, I decided to give it a shot again to my business, only that this decission was more as a survival method rather than the way I imagined it. And this was because during the 2020 pandemic, here in my city there was a scrict lockdown for certain businesses who weren't able to operate during 5 months. I was working in one of those many companies who closed their doors, so I was nearly broke; but this was the time to see what I was fade of.

I took a loan so I was able to purchase all the things I needed to start my business again and it was beeing a success. It was different this time, now I had much more experience, and most of all, I was very commited and mentally prepared for everything. During the first two months I was able to recover all the money invested in the business. Everything was going as planned, I mean, I prepared myself for 5 years so everything would have to go well. I was very happy to see my business growing, but most important of all, I loved to see my customers happy for the service they were getting.

One day, my girlfriend Mayra and I were preparing the delivery for a client. It was a very special day because that client was going to be an important contact to reach many more customers. Mayra and I used to wake up early in the morning, around 3:00 a:m so we have everything ready, fresh and in perfect conditions. At this moment, I was working in my business and also in my previous job, as they were able to operate again. It was around 10:00 a:m when I received a call that would change drastically the story of my business.

I answered the phone and the person referred to me with my full name and the name of my business. I thought it could be a customer who was interested in getting my service, but unfortunately it wasn't that way. He presented himself as the person in charge of collecting money from businesses by a dangerous cartel in my city. They requested an amount of money for two things: first one, to let me work as normal; and second one, so my family didn't run any danger. Basically, if I didn't give them the money they were asking for, they threatened me with death.

I was shocked. It even gives me chills just to remember that moment again. I didn't want to believe it. 5 years of my life and I thought nothing could go wrong, but I wasn't prepared for this kind of situation. I thought to continue with the business, but I wouldn't forgive me if something happened to my family. With tears in my eyes, and full of anger, I decided to shut down again the business I wanted so much. I remember when I was about to delete the social networks of the business, and I just stared at the pages for hours, hoping that this was just a terrible dream. But it wasn't, if I didn't took that decission, the life of my famly and mine would be in danger. I understood that this wasn't the place for me.

Now, the place I was working before is closed again because of a new lockdown in the city. Again, I am nearly broke. I sadly see how my dream of going to Canada is, once again, very far from me. But that won't stop me, I will work hard everyday of my life so I can make my dream come true. I am also learning french by myself, and managed to get my passport ready for the moment to go there.

This is why I came here for a helping hand. I give you my word that I will be a successful business man, but above all, a leader who will guide and help many people improve their quality of life.

Thank you for reading my story, and I hope to count on your support to be able to reach Canada.
