Wesley Huang

Dear friends, and anyone who may be willing to help,

Allow me to introduce myself; I am Wesley Huang. While some of you may know me well, others might be hearing from me for the first time. I was raised in the United States but now reside in Taiwan, pursuing my studies at National Chengchi University, where I'm currently an IMBA (International Master of Business Administration) student in my second year.

The reason I'm reaching out to you is that the month of October has been particularly challenging for me. I've encountered some unexpected and unfortunate events that have left me in a difficult financial situation. I want to share my story and humbly request your support and assistance.

Firstly, I found myself entangled in a frustrating situation with Amazon. An Amazon customer service agent made an error in handling my gift card balance, and I'm currently in the process of resolving this issue through the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

Unfortunately, that was not the end of my troubles. I also fell victim to an online scam. It all began on an online trading platform where I was able to make modest daily earnings, typically around $3 to $5. Considering the financial responsibilities I have, including loans, I decided to take a calculated risk and invest a larger sum. To obtain the necessary funds, I had to visit multiple lenders, including loan sharks, a pawn shop, and a loan agency. The loans added up to a significant amount, totaling 40,000 NTD (approximately $1,250), 30,000 NTD (about $928), 30,000 NTD (around $928), and 10,000 NTD (approximately $309).

The trading initially appeared to be successful, but when I attempted to make a withdrawal, the company's customer service requested a 10 percent security deposit. They presented a contract that labeled this deposit as "refundable," and a company resembling PayPal was mentioned. Fortunately, a colleague of mine helped me with 55,000 NTD, and I managed to contribute 18,000 NTD, while the company guiding me in this "investment" also extended financial support, totaling 63,000 NTD (I'll provide more details on this shortly).

However, things took a dark turn when the customer service demanded an additional 12 percent, attributing it to taxes imposed by the Tax Bureau. They provided a tax bracket, making me realize that something was amiss. At this point, I contacted the national scam hotline (165) and even the loan agency from which I had borrowed 10,000 NTD. The loan agency was deeply concerned and revealed that this was a common scam affecting many people.

I'm not seeking a handout, and I've been actively searching for remote job opportunities to supplement my income. This quest is on top of being a full-time student and holding a full-time job. However, I haven't had much luck on this front. The initial payments for the loan sharks are due within 10 days and 15 days, with the 10-day deadline approaching soon.

I've been fervently praying and seeking divine intervention, but for those who know me well, you might wonder why I don't turn to my parents for help. My parents come from a traditional and conservative background, and they recently discovered that I had saved over 100,000 NTD. They are not inclined to offer assistance, and it's likely they'll impose additional financial responsibilities.

Last month, I may have gone overboard purchasing textbooks related to digital marketing, which I need for both my job and thesis. My dad is now asking for an extra 10,000 NTD per month for these expenses, so it's evident that they won't provide financial support in my current predicament.

I did file a police report regarding the scam, but it will take some time before any potential recovery is possible. My immediate need is to secure 50,000 NTD to cover the small loans with imminent due dates. These lending agencies are known to be aggressive, and in some cases, people's lives are at stake.

I'm sharing this message in the hope that someone, somewhere, might be able to offer assistance during this challenging time. Any contribution, no matter how small, would be immensely appreciated. If you have any questions or would like to get in touch with me directly, please feel free to email me at [email protected]. I also plan to share a video and provide all the necessary documents to substantiate my situation.

Thank you for taking the time to read my plea, and I'm genuinely grateful to anyone who can spare something to help me navigate through these trying times.

With deep gratitude, Wesley Huang
