I'm a 22-year old guy who's been needing a laptop/desktop for quite some time. Will you please help me?
I previously owned a laptop from 2011 to 2015. It was a gift from a friend who had recently passed and I treasured it greatly since it was my first laptop. I took good care of it, knowing that my family wasn't that well off and couldn't normally afford such an expense. The laptop served me well, helping me make my life easier by providing convenient access to programs i needed for college as well as being my major source of entertainment at home. Right after graduation and 4 years of running perfectly, it just gave up. I brought it to several repair shops, hoping to find someone who could bring it back to life, but its time had come.
Right now, I'm currently employed and trying hard to save up, but with all the costs that come with being a young graduate and my obligations to help provide for needs at home since I live with a retired grandmother who doesn't earn a lot from her pension, that is close to impossible. I've thought long and hard about asking for help online because I know it's not that different from begging, but I need all the help I can get.
My primary purpose of having a laptop/desktop is for me to have something to continue my passion for writing, blogging, graphic design, and basic video editing. I've had to turn down several opportunities given to me regarding these interests since I have nothing to personally use for editing and storing my work.
As for the benchmark I set, it's is based on the retail prices I've seen in stores and online, but I am also looking for cheaper alternatives such as shops that build PC's for less. I'm not looking for a fancy PC, but I do need one that can serve my needs and can handle programs like Photoshop, Sony Vegas, and others I may need in the future. I would also need to purchase additional hardware that may be necessary.
Should the benchmark I set prove to be more than the costs I would incur, I plan to pay it forward by donating the excess to other campaigns here.
I know it sounds selfish to raise money like this for a personal need, but having something at home to use for all of my interests would benefit me and others greatly in the long run. I would be able to start helping others again with graphic design needs, and if you need it, I'd gladly help you out as well. if I raise enough to purchase a good pc/laptop that I can use, I'd be eternally greatful.
