For our kind hearted and generous souls out there, I am in desperate need of your help since we already drained all our resources, depleted our insurances, and currently paying out huge loans from the last operation I had. I was also depressed after receiving the biopsy result just a month ago and was diagnosed with Stage III-C Colon Cancer and needed to undergo a post op chemotherapy treatment. The surgery expense was already too much and was shocked with the cost of the post-op treatment. I\'m humbly asking for your help to at least alleviate some of the expenses as I\'m now a PWD and I only have limited options for work while I\'m recovering. I firmly believe that colon cancer is a survivable disease so with everybody\'s help, let\'s battle this cancer together!

MY STORY

After losing my dad April 1st, 2021, my health started to decline to the point I got infected with severe covid19. I was afraid that it might be my time and I might be following dad in the afterlife, But a miracle happened and I survived even at that late stage. The bill was really high but Philhealth got it all covered (except the medicines, remdesivir, toci, hemodialysis, etc since OSMUN doesn\'t cover it which hit us financially).

Fast forward 10 months after recovering from the dreaded virus, I started to vomit frequently to the point that even drinking water my stomach wouldn\'t accept. Initial diagnosis were amebiasis and gout. Meds were only delivered through IV due to the vomiting issue. My wife was really worried and decided that we switch doctors and got a good one at Asian Hospital and was advice to do a colonoscopy/endoscopy examination and CT scan and they found that I had a tumor inside my right colon just above my appendix which was blocking everything I ate and drink. The samples from the biopsy were benign since they can\'t enter the blocked area to get accurate samples from the tumor.

After seeing the CT scan results, our doctor was alarmed to the 10cm mass and some mass forming on both gall bladder and liver and was ordered to prepare for an emergency operation. We asked about the bill if how much do we need to prepare since we just recovered from the expense we had after suffering from covid19, We were told to prepare at least 3-4M since it will be multiple operations. We have no choice but to look for a different hospital to do the operation since it was too expensive if we do it in a private hospital and even our insurances would only cover 10% of the total bill.

My dad\'s cousin offered for us to check out PGH as she\'s a head nurse there and knew some surgeons there and could get us connected with her contacts, I was immediately scheduled for an operation after they confirmed the test results and got under the knife within 2 days. The operation took 8 hours, and 3 surgeons operated on me. They even removed all the forming masses on different regions of my body. My right colon was removed and was replaced with an ileostomy bag. Our surgeon was alarmed after opening me up as my intestines were engorged and swelling 4x its original size. Good thing the operation was done immediately or else It might cause a sepsis when the intestine pops as she, our surgeon explained and thus chances of survival would be close to zero.

For me it\'s already a miracle. And with this illness I met some really awesome, wholesome, and wonderful people. With this illness, friendships were even made stronger, and families were brought together again. I\'ve learned that even on our darkest and desperate times, there\'s always something good that will come out from it. And I truly believe that this is just a situation that I am only going through and soon will get over it and recover.
