I am a passionate and doggedly persistent individual, who is always seeking to create better opportunities for myself and my family, as well as assist those in need in my community (for example the reading classes that I conduct and assistance I provide for P.E.P exam preparations).
My personal experiences of a negative health outcome due to diagnostic errors, for several years, which saw me being shuttled from one specialist to the next, was the catalyst for me to find a solution, to combat diagnostic errors in the Health Care System here in Jamaica. As such, I took a technological approach, hence my choosing and being accepted in the MSc programme in Computing and Information Systems at the Liverpool John Moores University in the UK
Thousands of people like myself in Jamaica (children and adults alike) suffer from physical, mental and financial anguish due to diagnostic errors. Without quality health care then there can be no quality and/or great length of life. This program would equip me with the requisite skills and competence to help to improve patient care, not just for myself, my family and my future children, but my community and the country at large.
The funds being requested will help to cover travel, book accommodation and maintenance costs.
I would be truly appreciative of your assistance, as, without it, I will not be able to even dream of completing studies. The Student’s Loan Bureau only provides loan if you’re studying here in the country, I applied for the Chevening scholarship where I was one of 50 shortlisted, from among 400 Jamaican applicants. Unfortunately, I did not progress past the interview stage. I’m not able to take out a personal loan at the bank for the amount required as I have no collateral to secure a loan, neither would it be possible to cover the monthly repayment costs that would be associated with the loan while studying.
Only with your assistance would my dreams and goal become a reality.
