I could lie about a sad story to inspire well-meaning people to shower me with money, but I dont really have one, so I'm taking a chance here :)

We are from South Africa, my ancestors came here almost 400 years ago in search of a better life. Up till now it's not been too bad wars, floods, droughts, taxes and politicians calling us colonists and thieves notwithstanding.

But recently our national energy supplier (ESKOM) has seriously started screwing the pooch - to such an extent that we as a country regularly face "loadshedding" - thats when they switch of power nationally to prevent the whole electrical system to collapse. It has a huge impact on the economy, the country and me... Because I have a cute 4 year old that hates the dark (and the lack of TV and internet to skype her grandparents).

I want to buy an "inverter" - which is a huge UPS to power internet, tv etc - but I dont have money, so someone said that I should try this and see how cool people are... so this is me.

Yes, there are many many more deserving stories out there, people with real issues and heart-wrenching stories - mine isnt one of them... But you will make my daughter's day and through that mine, because happy-daughter-happy-dad.

Lets see where this goes and thanks in advance!
