When I was 15 years old, I was diagnosed with a disease called ulcerative colitis. It had never given me much trouble, but last summer I got sick with what turned out to be a very serious flare up. In September, I was hospitalized. By the time I was beginning to recover, I had lost 15 pounds and three months' wages. After fighting with everything I had to avoid life altering medications and surgeries, I finally returned to work in November. But my disease had taken a huge physical and financial toll; I was left with very little strength, hair that almost fell out completely, and debt that to this day has not been paid off.
After reading about the emotional benefits of pet ownership, I adopted Holly in December when she was just two months old. Her healing powers were immediately obvious - she was better therapy than any medicine I'd ever taken. Today, almost five months later, we are truly inseparable. Unfortunately, Holly was very sick very often, and we were in and out of the vet's office for what was eventually diagnosed as colitis. Today, I learned that due to a bowel obstruction, she needs to be hospitalized and requires surgery.
WHY I NEED YOUR HELP!
The hospitalization and surgery will cost $3,000. I don't even have a fraction of that available to pay for what she needs to live. I have never been more heartbroken, and after everything she's done for me, cannot bear to put her down. That's why I'm hoping that fellow pet owners and lovers will sympathize and decide to help me save Holly.
WHAT I WILL DO TO THANK YOU!
And to show my very sincere appreciation, I will volunteer one hour at the Ottawa Humane Society for every $100 raised! So if I raise $3,000, I will volunteer 30 hours! I will write about my experiences and take pictures that will be shared with everyone who's helped me help Holly. ANY AMOUNT, LARGE OR SMALL, IS WELCOME AND WILL GO A LONG WAY!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
