Happy Holidays – Please donate to our little Christmas miracle!

This is Auggie, now renamed Holly who was picked up as a stray by a NYC Animal Care and Control employee and brought to Manhattan ACC.

In Holly’s case, she was the victim of trauma, likely caused by being kicked in the abdomen. She has a very large bruise and is limping. Radiographs will most likely need to be done as the limp has not improved.

We also did a full blood workup on her to make sure she had no underlying issues.

Due to the outbreak of a mutated strain of avian flu that has infected cats, all intakes are being housed in an ACC van outside of the Manhattan shelter. The cats only have until 8 p.m. to be rescued, at which time if not pulled by a rescue, they enter the shelter for quarantine.

Since these animals cannot enter they shelter while being held temporarily in the van, no medical care is given and the entire burden is put on the rescue group. This includes, but is not limited to, testing for FELV/FIV, vaccinations, deworming and spay/neuter.

This is going to be a very costly veterinary bill that we did not expect. Holly was definitely a house cat that found her herself in trouble. While I was on the van, she cried out to me, gave me a head butt and then rolled over to have her belly scratched, all the time making air bisquits. How could we refuse her?
