Details of Fighter Cat

Breed: Unsure. Suspect Maine coon/Forest Cat Cross Breed

Age: 4-5 years old, neutered male cat.

Status: Believed he was abandoned or abused/mistreated (please read why in the summary below)

How he was found?

Fighter cat was found waiting outside a Family Service Center in Macpherson area on the first working day of 2018 (i.e. 2 Jan 2018). As the centre was closed over the public holiday, nobody knows how he got there and how long he got there. He became the "1st Client" at the service centre seeking for help. The cat seek shelter in the Centre the moment the Centre was opened and when he was chased away, he came back again. Believing he was either a lost pet, the Centre took him in overnight to take care but he refused to eat or drink.

What happened after 2 Jan 2018?

On 3 Jan 2018, the Centre's staff - Kathy got him a cage to sleep in and I offered to bring him home for a shower and tried liquid diet. In short, he only took in a few sip of liquid diet and did not continue eating or drinking after that. He showed difficulty in eating kibbles so we were determined he is suffering from gum infection. On top of that, he was constantly wheezing and sniffing away. We also thought he caught a flu over the rainy final weekend of 2017. Between 2 Jan to 5 Jan 2018, he did not pee or poop at all. We got very worried and Kathy took him to the vet (Stars @ Hougang).

What did the Vet found out?

No microchip, unable to track his owner. :(

What we thought was gum infection/urinary tract infection and flu is actually a FRACTURE AT HIS UPPER JAW! That is the reason why he refuse to eat and drink because he would cough and then the food or water would go to the respiratory tract. The Vet suspected he might have fallen from higher heights or suffered from some other traumatic accident (either mistreated/abused or severe accidents).

Due to his fracture wound, clinical examination revealed severe dehydration, constipation and a cleft palate (hole in the roof of the cat's mouth) with evidence of infection.

What is next for Fighter cat?

He is currently hospitalised, on fluids to monitor his vitals. He will undergo a surgery on 6 January 2018 afternoon. May God bless him! Please don't give him any other complications. Vet said might have ruptured bladder (no pee!) fractures, dislocations, nerve damage etc.

Yes. we wrote this long story to raise fund $$$ for him. So that we can send ensure he is covered for his surgery and post surgery recovery.
