Hi, I hope you are all well in this strange time. We are a regular family of 4 and I feel ashamed being here. I have never asked anyone for money, we have never had a loan and I have never bought anything with installments. If I cannot afford it I know I won't have it. Because we do not have much, we do not own a house nor do we have any savings, all we have is each other. I work full time and sometimes, even up to 14 hours a day for 6 days a week. I get up really early and come home really late, when I return home, sometimes I'm really tired that I can barely stand. I always try so hard to spend as much time as possible with my family. My partner was studying and working part time. 18 months ago she was diagnosed with a kidney tumor. Due to serious health issue, and partial nefroctomy she was unable to work at all for the last 6 months and it is still unclear when she will be able to come back to work as she still suffers from neuropathic pain all the time. So I was taking as many overtimes as possible that my Famiky would not be homeless and hungry... and I do get rewarded for that. We have had a housing benefit, no more than £130 a months and it's not that much but always a little bit helps. We used it to pay our bills or buy essential needs. When I received my calculation report it says that they have confirmed my earnings with HMRC so I thought it was OK as they had the right numbers. Now they claim £9477.04 as overpaid for the last 7 years. They said it was because when they had checked my earnings for March 2020 we are not eligible to have benefit anymore so it has been cancelled. Also they said from 2013 we have been overpaid. They have noticed that in 2016 and we have meeting and new calculation of benefit that time. That time they have decided it will be recalculated from new calculation so we do need worry about it. A helpfull lady over the phone a few days ago has told me the recovery was not enough to cover that overpayment and even the recovery we still have been overpaid from 2016 till today. Ant it was growing up. We could not know that, we do not do calculations. The problem is, that we have never had that type of money, we've never even seen that much! We are under £2k a month to pay rent, taxes and bills which are around 1.5k a month. We have around £100 a month per person left to pay for travel to work, school, to pay for food and only the normal daily needs. That £130 was quite a help for us but I have to pay it back. What I am asking for is to help us pay back what the Council wants even that was not our fault. I cannot deal with Council directly as the invoice has been send by Debt Collector company. We did not have any letters, calculations or explanation before the invoice has been issued. Also the invoice has ben issued in March with the paymemt date for early April, we have recieved it by post in May probably because of Covid-19 case and delay with Post and I cannot prove it so they add 8% intrest for delay. I do not want any more money from them because it is really hard at the moment and I am affraid the same situation after a few years. I will keep working hard by my options are limited. We may not reach the goal but anything helps and we would be grateful for every penny donated. This is a very hard time for us and I just don't know what to do.
