Hi I am Dwight Levy automotive engineer from Ulster Spring Trelawny. In August 2017 I met in an auto accident and suffered 2 retinal detachments, the right eye first and shortly after the left. I was able to do 2 vitrectomies to remove the bloody vitreous, re attach the retinas, laser them back in place. Silicone based oil was put in place of the vitreous to keep the retina in place as they heal and would remain for at least 9 months. After about 5months the oil had to be removed as it had caused glaucoma in that eye. Now after surgery and on glaucoma meds for the rest of my life I have 40% vision in my right eye. My left still has the oil in it and has retina fibrosis. I have a small amount of peripheral vision.
If I'm able to raise the funds, this will cover oil removal and surgery to remove the tissues from the left eye and any after surgery needs which will include stem cell procedures.
I have not been able to work since the accident 3 years ago and so have not been able to support my wife and 2 children. We have spent all that we had on these surgeries and to maintain monthly medical expenses. This funding can go a far way in helping out and regaining more vision and the ability to earn will mean the world to me.
