Our little son, who has just turned two, is fighting a rare
cancer called Neuroblastoma, which has spread throughout his body..
has been diagnosed as stage 4 high risk neuroblastoma. He is
currently receiving care at MP Shah Hospital/Cancer Care Center where we
had to transfer him from Kenyatta hospital for specialized care and
attention after referral. His treatment
involves over a year long program of chemotherapy, surgery, transplant,
radiation therapy and immunotherapy (currently not available in Kenya).
His primary tumour in his abdomen is the size of a softball (9x10cm)
and it has infiltrated and wrapped around his spine which will require
very risky and lengthy neurosurgery to remove. The first attempt to
remove the tumour was cancelled due to the serious risks and possible
side effects it may have caused.
The behavior and response of
Brian's disease has not been
typical or straight forward. He hasn't shown the response to
chemotherapy they were hoping for as his scans after chemo so far have
shown no shrinkage to tumours in abdomen and bones. As a single parent
(with a small grocery shop-his dad passed on an year ago), am working
with the MP Shah Doctors towards using other treatments that are not
accessible at MP Shah and may have to travel to India, Australia, Europe
USA where these treatments are available.
To give Brian the best fighting me, his Mama, and my little brother will need to be with him round the clock. This will involve
all our time and energy, and we will use your generous donations to
improve Brian's quality of life and to access treatments that are
not provided here in Kenya.
of immeasurable value to us and my our little son. May God touch your life in a special way as you heed to our cries for assistance.
