We want to tell you about how Baby Nathan Angelo (Baby Nate) came into this world - so loved but so very early.
July 2019, we got the biggest surprise. The most awaited gift from above after 11 wonderful years is finally in my tummy! Our first baby were on his way and would meet him in January 2020 hence, something didn’t go to plan.
October 3, 2019 I was emergency rushed to the nearest hospital (TriCity Medical Center) due to bleeding and unexpectedly delivered Baby Nathan at 3:45pm in a very complicated way. We finally got to see our baby the following day. As first time parents and having never seen a premature (miracle) baby before, we didn’t know what to expect or what he would look like but the immediate love we felt was overwhelming.
Baby Nathan born preterm at 23 weeks. Upon delivery, he was limp, unresponsive and with no heart rate for almost 15mins. CPR ensued with high flow of oxygen via bagmask ventilation. After 7mins. of CPR, heart rate is at 30s but he still limp, cyanotic and unresponsive. CPR continued and intubation was done. Heart rate increased to 110s to 120s and Nathan turned pink but without spontaneous eye opening or movement. The Doctor proceeded with umbilical cannulation and normal respirations were noted. Nathan was hooked to mechanical ventilator to support his breathing with a tube inserted directly to his lungs.
Several laboratory tests were conducted and there was also a note of jerking movements on the lower lip. He had an episode of respiratory distress on his 4th day of life and IV antibiotics were shifted to a much higher dosage. Nathan remained stable until extubation was done and Oxygen support was given via nasal cannula. From then, no desaturations nor distress were noted. Antibiotics and fluids were continued. On his 8th day of life, respiratory distress recurred. Chest xray showed progression of infiltrates and yet, reintubation was done. Currently, Nathan is stable and able to open his eyes but still with the support of mechanical ventilator due to his immature lungs. Blood/lab test still shows signs of sepsis, infections where he got from swallowing meconium or swallowing his own stool at birth. He was also referred to neuro to check his brain development.
His Doctor have told us that he have gone from strength to strength and hitting all his little by little milestones. Doctor named our baby a “Miracle Baby”, a fighter - #FromZeroToHero. This fills us with such immense pride and we can’t wait to hold and hug our little hero so very tight. Nathan still fighting for his life up to now and still admitted in NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). As of this writing, Baby Nathan is on his 24th day (3 weeks) in the hospital and the hospital bill is now ranging close to Php 600,000.00. Our son deserves all the chance to survive. We are knocking your doors and kind-heart to please help us save Baby Nathan’s life as we are going through the battles of financial turmoil. Your kind financial assistance and unwavering support will give us a great hope. Any support you will give is well appreciated. We would also like to ask your prayers for our son’s fast recovery. We can’t wait to bring him home.
