THURS 22/5 PM UPDATE: So Rubin's doing great physically. Eating. Normal stool. Happy. But his blood calcium level is going up to a point that could start calcification of organs so IV therapy and medications have been started while the Cypress Lake Animal and Emergency Hospital Team searches for a cause.
Please keep our sweet boy in your prayers and I'll update again once his bloodwork has been rechecked
Late Sunday evening we were tagged on a post about an emaciated dog with a leg injury hanging around an apartment complex in Breaux Bridge. The first few pics that were posted were heartbreaking so we asked for more info but by the next morning, he was gone. Thank goodness we got word that he had been picked up by animal control and brought to the St. Martin Shelter. After an assessment by their vet and making arrangements to bring him to Cypress Lake Animal and Emergency Hospital, he hitched a ride with our friend and transporter, Susan Rubin. So, his name is "Rubin"! Our medical foster, Leslie Davis, brought Rubin to the vet clinic where is has been assessed and determined to have Demodex, yeast infection, heartworm positive, corneal abrasions on both eyes, cryptorchid, dislocated right hip, hookworms and whipworms. He's only 24 lbs and about 1 yr old. We're determined to give you your life back Rubin! We will need the help of our friends. Please, Friends of Second Chance, donate to Rubin's medical fundraiser. He may have a long road ahead but he is in good hands and with your prayers and donations for medical care, we look forward to posting his amazing comeback photos as a testament to those who support our mission to RESCUE, REHAB, and REHOME. We thank you all from the bottom of out hearts and as you can see, Rubin is showing his foster mom his appreciation with sweet kisses.
