Hi. My name is Danny Bird. I am trying to raise funds to support me whilst I am undergoing medical treatment for an excrutiatingly painful condition called Charcot joint. It is a complication from Diabetes. I am Type 1 meaning I am insulin dependant. I have been working in a fulltime job up until now with the condition, but I am now unable to continue to work due to the deterioration of my ankle and the pain getting worse. I was instructed in January 2014 to get off my foot and be non weight baring on it but due to the cost of medications I have conitinued to work as a store manager, walking around all day 6 days a week. I was refused a pension based on the fact that my condition is not yet stabilised and wont be stabilised until I can get surgery or at minimum a special orthotic called a CROW (Charcot Restraint Orthotic Walker)boot. The cost of the surgery is $80,000 and the boot is around $3,500. I also need ongoing prescription pain relief, Diabetes medication, anti depressants (I am suffering depression from the long term nature of the condition). Your support would be greatly appreciated as it will allow me to continue to pay for the medications and allow me to stay off my foot to allow it to heal better and give me some sort of quality of life. I am not the type of person to ask for help rather, I am usually the person giving help to my family, friends and even strangers on the street. If you could see it in your heart to help me, I would be forever grateful to you. I do not drink or smoke, so the money will not be wasted on such crap, only to help pay medical bills and in honesty other living expenses. Please help a mate out. Yours sincerely, Danny Bird

Look into getting a Health Care Card from Centrelink.. It reduces your prescription medication costs to about $7 each. Did you apply for the Sickness benefit crom Centrelink too? Speak to your superannuation fund to see if you can access some type of sickness benefit while you are off work. Just some suggestions. Best of luck Steph
