The situation in Venezuela is extremely precarious and unsustainable, our socio-economic crisis has led us to live knowing that our salary is not enough to pay a visit to the vet, much less a bag of good dog food. For that reason many people are abandoning their pets, since they are forced to choose between feeding a dog or feeding themselves. The animals are suffering a lot, there are tragic and sad cases everytime you go out to walk by the street, and for someone like me, who has loved animals since I was a child, it is impossible not to try to find a way to rescue some of the dogs and cats that I see. I know that if I were alone I could not do it, I could not give them more than caresses, time and part of my food, which would not be enough for them to survive.

But I have had the blessing of being able to count on kind and goodhearted people, who extend their hands to me through the twitter account that I created to spread the situation of the animals that I'm rescuing.

One of the most difficult things here in Venezuela, is finding and paying for dog food. Every time I rescue a dog, he or she is usually in a state of extreme starvation, and from previous experiences I know that they need that type of food to be able to recover and survive. Dog food is difficult to obtain because companies in Venezuela are working in "survivor" mode, do not produce too much and what they produce is put up for sale at very high prices in order to continue the production. When the dog food reaches some business, the business must raise the price even more to be able to obtain some profit. It is a devastating cycle if we take into account that the minimum salary in Venezuela is around $ 2 - $ 3 per month.

Today, thanks to a friend who works in Makro (a supermarket in Venezuela that sells wholesale, it's also in decline but sometimes they receive products that are really hard to find), I received the news that they received a shipment of dog food bags of 18kg from the brand K-nina. He knows that I have several dogs under my care and that I often fight to find food for them, some of these dogs are really big ones (like Papi and Manchas) and they need a bigger ration of food every day, so it's a constant concern for me. I think it is a great opportunity to buy several bags and use them so that my animals can eat during the coming months. My friend wants to help me because he knows that if I give the money to him, and he buys the bags for me, then the final price receives a discount because he is an employ and that's and aditional help that makes me able to buy 12 bags with the 320$. The prices will continue to rise in Venezuela, and this is a unique opportunity. With that food I could keep healthy the dogs I have rescued, and save others who are in situations of extreme need. I can not achieve this alone, it is impossible to afford for a Venezuelan and I have a very limited time to buy the bags of food since whenever a product reaches Makro it gets sold out soon. I would be happy to be able to buy at least 2 or 3 bags of 18kg because I know I will never find an opportunity like this again, since in Venezuela prices never go down, they always go up, day by day. I will never have the opportunity to get this large amount of dog food at this price again, this would solve months of feeding for my rescues and I know that there are many wonderful dogs needing this help here. For that reason I will be grateful from the bottom of my heart with all those who decides to give one of those bags to the dogs
