Hey guys! Just want to catch your attention for a moment. On 23rd September, I will be participating in one of the hardest ultramarathons on Earth in the Grand Canyon, USA. Grand2Grand Ultra, is a 273km (170 miles) self-supported race where runners will have to carry all the food, clothes and gear for the duration of the race.
Ambition is kindly supporting me with the race and will in return, I will try to raise as much money for my charity, Wheel for Oneness, as possible and Build a Better Future for the sickened children.
How it all started?
It all started back in 2008, when my dad joined in the 23rd edition of the Marathon Des Sables (MDS), a 254km, 7 days race in the Sahara Desert. He came back, feeling extremely proud and asked if I wanted to do it too. My response was, “Which idiot on Earth would want to do this, are you not exhausted enough just from going to work? I can be better off chilaxing at a cafe? go for a shopping spree? or even go on a get away trip to somewhere under the sun!” Fast forward 4 years, I became one of those idiots completed in the 27th edition.
Grand2Grand Ultra, USA (G2G)
Grand2Grand Ultra runs over the course of seven days, I will be running over 273km through a high desert landscape of sand dunes, red rock slot canyons, buttes, mesas and hoodoos. The weather will be the toughest enemy with temperature hitting 50c regularly and can drop to as low as 5c after sunset.
What charity am I running for? Wheel for Oneness (WFO)
WFO is a group of people from different backgrounds, carrying disabled/sickened children on a specially adapted wheelbarrow participating in different sporting events, enabling them to dream to participate, whilst promoting social inclusion and realising a more optimistic society to Hong Kong and to the world.
What is the Grand Slam Championship?
Upon Completion of the G2G, I will be completing "The Grand Slam Championship" which requires runners must complete a full distanced marathon in all 7 continents + the North Pole, becoming one of the youngest members in the history of the championship So, year on year, I have been working hard to tick each continent off the list whilst raising money for different charities.
Some highlights can be, in 2012, I ran the HK 100km Trail Walker for Oxfam; 2013, participated in the North Pole Marathon whilst helped promote Green Monday; 2015, did the Antarctic 100km Ice Ultramarathon with a school called Christian Zheng Sheng College
About me? About you? About them!
In the Sahara, my feet had swollen, fractured under pressure, tears have dropped, and my mind went to places I have never known…I am pretty sure these will all happen again, (just hopefully not worse!) .... But none of this will matter when I cross the finishing line.
I hope the real HEROS will be you, my colleagues and friends, by helping me raise charity for children who need it most and promoting social inclusion so that they too can have the opportunities in life we all deserve to experience.
