Playing Softball In The Netherlands

As many of you know, I have been playing softball for a few years now and recently went to Florida, USA to trial for the Great Britain U22s Fastpitch Team.

I am 18 years old, a student athlete attending Bluecoat Sixthform.

Softball is a self funded sport therefore I must work extremely hard to play.

The distance between me and the location of my practice is 140 miles, so before I can attend a training session I am already faced with a hurdle; transportation and the cost if it.

Then other necessities such as equipment, club membership and accommodation are required so I must work a full time job during the night as well as being in full time education to make this work.

In order for my progression as an athlete I have made the decision to join a team in The Netherlands, Centrals Dames 1, which will be able to develop my ability further allowing more exposure to game opportunities as well as training.

Practice is every Sunday 12:30 - 14:30 up until mid March and after that point Spring Training commences which can fall one day of the weekend or both.

This will come at a great financial cost to myself however the development is necessary for me if I want to play college sports in the USA after completing my A Levels. It will be difficult if I attempt working overtime as well as staying on top of my academics on my own which is why I have created a fundraising page to hopefully release some of the pressures.

Whatever funds are raised will be put towards:

• Transportation (flights, trains& metro and cabs)
• Club fee of around €300/ annum
• Accommodation
• Living expenses
• Equipment
