Charity Tournament

My name is Candace and I am currently a senior on the George Washington University Volleyball team. On Sunday, April 21st the George Washington Volleyball team will be hosting a charity volleyball tournament at GW's Smith Center. 100% of the profits from the tournament will go to Open Medicine Institute which is an organization that researches ways to cure myalgic encephalomyelitis(ME) or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). ME/CFS is a neurological viral immune disorder that can cause dysfunction of the brain, gastro-intestinal, immune, endocrine and cardiac systems. In the U.S. alone, there are more than 1 million people who have ME/CFS and it affects more than 8 million people world wide.

Meet Aunt Lynn

My Aunt Lynn was a nurse who also owned a private farm alongside my Uncle Brian. Over seven years ago, she contracted the virus and has been bed ridden ever since. There is currently no known cure for ME/CFS due to lack of research on the subject. However, Open Medicine Institute researchers are beginning to run trials of potential cures for the disease. My hope is that one day she as well as others will get their lives back. If you would like to learn more about the disease please visit Open Medicine Institute's website.

Goal

My goal is to raise $3,000 in donations to this institute, which will include the tournament proceeds. This fundraiser will run up until the day of the tournament. Any support would be greatly appreciated including sharing this link to your friends and family.

Please help me spread the word about this fundraiser! Thank you for your support!  Smile

Blessings,

Candace

P.S. If you are wondering who the cute kid is in the video, his name is Tyler and Aunt Lynn is his Grandma. He loves being in the spotlight and helping out his Grammy.
