I would like to raise £1000 to be split between Leukaemia Research and Serep (an NGO in Cameroon that I worked with over summer.)

To do this I will be shaving all my hair off! I will also be selling my hair to a charity organisation that makes wigs for people who have lost their hair due to an illness or going through chemotherapy.

100% of the money raised will go to charity.

Leukaemia is a blood cancer. It affects the white blood cells which are an important part of our immune system that fights infection. People with leukaemia produce abnormal white blood cells. These abnormal cells accumulate in the bone marrow and prevent the production of other important blood cells. Most of the problems associated with leukaemia are caused by the lack of normal cells in the blood, rather than the leukaemia cells themselves. For Leukaemia Research, they need to raise over £20million every year for their research to continue to find better treatments and cures for blood cancers. I would like to be part of this after my Grandmother died from Leukaemia.

Serep is a very honest charity and dedicate themselves truly, helping orphaned children get through school and supporting local communities in the area. Having been to Cameroon and worked alongside Serep I understand the difficulties they face. Whilst there I worked as a volunteer and set up my own project called 'Stop the Stigma' for HIV/Aids. This entailed visiting women's groups and schools, helping to educate and bring more awareness about the virus to then eventually stop the stigma that surrounds HIV/Aids.
I also worked on another project, 'The Plam Oil Project' which involved working with the women's groups in the area so that they could buy palm oil in bulk to then sell and make a profit, which would then go to help fund orphans though school.
I stayed in Cameroon for almost two months and learnt so much in this short period of time. I understand how the organisation works and what they really need to continue this incredible work. The money I donate will go to help these projects I worked on and so hopefully the work I did whilst there will not go to waste.

I hope that you can help!
As much or as little, your donations will be much appreciated
Thank you x
