PIKCHA MI YAAD is a “front step” social initiative based in Kingston, Jamaica put together by 2 friends who want to be able to give back and put a smile on your family faces during this time of COVID-19 quarantine. Street Photographer, Marina Burnel, and Fortunista.org Creator, Jennifer Ruparell want to capture your “COVID best”! Pull out the old wedding dress (if it still fits LOL) or try on that carnival costume you were supposed to be jumping in, or just wear your pyjamas. But let’s just have some fun for a few minutes together and give you a perfect captured memory. The kids will love it.

The way it works is that you make your minimum donation of $20 USD or $3000 JMD (feel free to leave more because the proceeds go to Maxfield Park Children’s Home) then we email you with a couple dates and times for the family photoshoot. Marina will arrive at the scheduled time with a honk or a call and all you have to do is be ready to stand on your front step, balcony or garden posing. She keeps her social distance with her long lens camera, takes a few candid shots and off she goes. 2 High Resolution images will be emailed to you within 2 days of the shoot, one black and white and one colour. You can get them printed later on, share on your social media pages and send to your family and friends to let them know you are hanging in there…

Sounds fun right? SO FUN!

Maxfield Park Children’s Home has been in operation since 1918. It is one of the private childcare facilities under the supervision of the Child Protection & Family Services Agency (CPFSA), an executive agency of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information, Jamaica.

The children are admitted after they have been determined to be in need of care and protection as provided by the Child Care & Protection Act (2004). The children are referred through the following sources; The Child Development Agency (Childrens' Office), The Police and the Courts.

The home operates an early childhood pre-school and a school for children with special needs that provides instruction for wards where services are lacking in the public school system.

Maxfield Park Children’s Home is in need of so many things, but right now the kids need toys, games, bicycles, and a chance to be free. How does your child like to spend their free time?

PEACE and LOVE!
