Piggery in Botswana

I’m raising funds to expand our existing Community Piggery Project in Botswana from a 150 to a 450 production sow unit. This is more than just a business, this is our home, livelihood, way of life and our passion. We care about our Community and this fundraising campaign will benefit the local rural community of Mahalapye which is dependent on agricultural projects for sustainability. We are truly and desperately in need of such a sustainable Project!

By expanding the Piggery is the perfect opportunity, unemployment in our poor local Community will be reduced by creating more job opportunities which will in return reduce crime, quality of life within our Community will improved and the local Community Social Responsibility Programs will benefit and be empowered.

The funds raised will be allocated to increase the number of production Animals as mentioned above, to expand and renovate the existing Pig Housing Facilities to accommodate the animals, to improve the environment and general health of the animals and to empower the local maize Farmers in our Community to produce more maize products, which in return will be used to manufacture local animal feed for the Piggery and other Livestock.

Our goal is to secure more jobs for farm workers, animal caretakers, local contractors, etc, Our believe is to financially support and benefit our local maize Farmers by improving their current primative operations to be financially self sustainability in the future.

Farmers are the food producers and key players in food sustainability. Farmers have to keep up with higher food demand due to population growth by expanding their operations which is 100% dependent on funding. Any small Farmer will confirm that funding is almost inaccessible through the banking sector due to high interest rates, bank policies and loan criteria. The return on investment demanded by Investors is also not viable or affordable to small Farmers and Governments have so many other funding responsibilities on their plates that Farmers and the Agricultural Industry in general are neglected.

For these reasons, small Farmers are dependent on the grace and generosity of public crowdfunding to keep their operations going, to produce good quality food at affordable prices which benefits the end Consumer and to make ends meet.
