Help save our Piggery

Update posted by Christo Van Zyl On Jan 18, 2020

Osego Maburu, one of 7 children, is a disabled young adult male born deaf and mute. His parents, also uneducated and unemployed, never had the means to send Osego to a school for special need children. Government schools offering free education couldn’t accommodate him due to his disability. Osego was abused by his parents and siblings and was just left to grow up without any investment into his life and with no education.

Osego was until recently unemployed looking after goats and sheep in return for a place to sleep and a plate of food per day. Currently, Osego is permanently employed by the Piggery Project and for the first time in his life be able to rent his own room in the Village, buying his own clothes and cooking his own food. He is learning sign language and is improving his life and circumstances on a daily basis.

Osego came to us with great excitement showing us his new bed he bought for himself from his savings. He never had a bed before nor did he ever slept in a proper bed except when he was admitted to hospital. For the first time in his life, will Osego be able to sleep every night in a bed instead of on boxes on the cold floor.

Osego’s life changed from being a dependent living from grants and give-aways to become self sustainable and independent adding value to himself, his family and Community

This is made possible because of People like you with compassion and who cares by taking action to effect change in lives like Osego Maburu and many others.
