Pia has been accepted to the Diploma in Leadership Course at the Centre for Playback Theatre. The course will help her to develop further her leadership skills in doing playback theatre. Her proposed paper on the course focuses on the use of playback theatre in connecting families of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). Her research would also require some travel to connect with OFW families. The funds raised here will be used for her travel expenses to the UK where the course will take place in July 22, as well as for the logistical expenses needed to do her research.
Pia is a founding member of Dulambuhay Philippine Playback Theatre. Dulambuhay is a member of the International Playback Theatre Network. The group trains and performs to underprivileged communities in the Philippines. The group believes that no story is worthless no matter how mundane it may seem-- all stories are worthy to be heard and performed. Dulambuhay aims to give space for voices of all kinds and make their stories worth telling the world. It hopes to build communities of healers and peacemakers by creatively redeeming stories of all peoples.
