Philippines Typhoon Appeal

When an emergency happens, it's a race against the clock to reach the children who need our help. Sadly in conflicts and emergencies like typhoons and other natural disasters, it's children who are most vulnerable, so it's important we get there fast.

Your donation today could help us give life-saving support to a child affected by Typhoon Haiyan, or provide support in their community during the aftermath.

According to the latest estimates, nearly 4.5 million people from 36 provinces have been affected and over 10,000 people are feared dead since Typhoon Haiyan made landfall in the Philippines on Friday 8 November.  

The coming days and weeks are critical. Hundreds of thousands of people have no shelter, food or water and families are already being forced to drink contaminated water from open wells. The threat of disease and malnutrition is high. The need for life-saving emergency aid is huge. We must act now.

We have an experienced local team in the Philippines working with local partners, and are flying in emergency experts from around the world to join them on the ground.

Roads and airports have been severely damaged, so getting to the most remote areas affected by the typhoon is extremely challenging. But our staff are doing all they can to access the worst-hit areas and start responding. 

With your help, we will provide clean water, shelter and sanitation to around 500,000 people affected by the Philippines Typhoon. We will also provide tents and plastic sheeting to give people basic protection from the elements. and distribute household water filters, which can clean dirty flood water and make it safe for cooking and washing. And we will install 'pop-up' toilets, which are quick and easy to erect .

We are expecting to be able to send urgently needed supplies out to the Philippines from our emergency warehouse in the UK on Tuesday or Wednesday, including water and sanitation equipment, hygiene kits and soap. Please give what you can today to support CHARTE Philippines Typhoon response.
