PhD Graduate without Wings

After years of working and studying part-time to be an Academic I finally achieved my goal. However, according to funding providers for research I have a limitation, which is my age and not having sufficient publications. I cannot increase my research publications if I do not get funding, to attend conferences and to do research. I never thought age should be a limiting factor, therefore I used every penny I had complete my PhD in order to be in academia and make a contribution to knowledge as well as to be an inspiration to others that could not achieve their dreams when they were younger. Academia have structural barriers that could destroy your dreams and aspirations to succeed if you do not have funding to attend conferences, that can assist you in building your academic profile and to become all these "Institution" expect of you to become. I have received partial funding from good samaritans hosting conferences and mostly tried to get part-time work to pay for other conference expenses. I am definitely open to doing part-time work but it is not always available hence the very brave move to go public and ask.
