In June of 2012, my big brother was diagnosed with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis. This disease actually eats away at the brain. The immune system attacks the central nervious system, but can be slowed down and kept in check with proper medical treatment and medication.
During the most resent, and detrimental, episode, in an attempt not to fall on his youngest son, he fell in the opposite direction and broke his arm. This is sudden onset was how we found out he had this debilitating desease. Due to these events, and the diagnosis, he was laid off from his job and lost all of his medical benefits. Due to this disease he not only has to be on medication for the rest of his life, but still needs to attend multiple doctor visits for both the disease and the broken wrist. If left unchecked this disease will eventually cause debilitation and premature death .
Our step father, the only source of income within the household has abandoned the family the week after my brother's diagnosis, deciding to leave the state and all us with no resources. My mother, brother, and I are destitute and will soon be evicted from the home that we are currently renting if the rent is not paid by the 31st. Our water will be shut off on the 24th of this month, and our only form of transportation to and from doctor visits will be repossessed if payment isn't made by the 25th of this month.
He has three small children that are not currently residing with him, but still need to have daddy around.
