Due to the fact I'm not yet sure what I want to do at university, what better way to spend a gap year than volunteering in Peru! This will be a great opportunity to see if I want to go into teaching and also a good way to gain some confidence and do something worth while and independent as well.
What has this got to do with you? Well! I need a bit of help to get there!
The money raised will go towards my living costs for 3 months plus my air fare there and back.
Whatever you can give, big or small will be a huge contribution to me being able to make a big difference helping educate, engage and empower children and teenagers in Peru.
Here's a bit more information about the programme
In the programme I will be working with children 5 to 15 years old that either work in the street or have mothers who work late into the evening. The project is from 2pm to 6pm on the weekdays. Numbers can range greatly at this project from 15 children one day to 45 children the next day.
We will get the opportunity to organize and teach crafts, art, music and any other subject that interests them. I will teach the children English and assist with homework as well as being provided with loads of motivation and support in my role.
Each person who volunteers generates a donation which goes directly towards these projects to enhance the experience for the children, by providing either additional resources or meals they could otherwise not afford.
