Peru – Orphanage Construction/Renovation Project

About the Project:

I am travelling to Peru for two weeks on a volunteer/adventure trip! 

I am registered with Global Volunteer Network to travel & volunteer in Peru to participate with the much needed building/renovation of orphanages in some of Peru's most remote regions. 

The project is located outside of Cusco, a city in south-eastern Peru near the Sacred Valley of the Andes mountain range. Cusco is at an altitude of around 3,500m (11,500 ft). I will live in a homestay-type situation in a Peruvian home. 

The construction project will take place at a small rural school/orphanage. Project includes renovation work such as painting, plastering and repairs and full construction which includes making adobe bricks, masonry, laying tiles and plumbing. The building project is to help the community improve their orphanages, schools and community centres. This is an opportunity for volunteers to be very patient and flexible, and to get their hands and clothes very dirty while helping a community in need. 

My Goal!!!

I am flying to Peru on February 1st, 2013 - and I am aiming to raise $1500.00 by January 25th, 2013.

Volunteering abroad comes at a cost - I would appreciate any donations you can give to enable me to take on the challenge of helping others in less fortunate circumstances than ourselves.

I am hoping you can help me cover my expenses to volunteer, such as accommodation and meals, and the services of Global Volunteer Network that provide me with the successful placement for both the community I am serving and for myself.

I'm an Intern Architect working in Ottawa, Canada. I love to travel and want to use my education and skills to advantage those less fortunate while on my travels. Volunteer Traveling provides the opportunity to develop a deeper connection with the people and cultures I engage with, and to gain life experiences that only adventures such as this can provide. I greatly appreciate any help you can provide and I look forward to telling you all about my experience!
