What is this about?
I am a first year medical student at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harlem, NY, a school with a mission to promote medical outreach to underserved communities. In hopes of expaniding our reach to underserved communities, I will be traveling to Peru to work in a medical clinic. We will be working with IFRE, an international humanitarian organization that provides medical and humanitarian volunteer services worldwide. IFRE's programs specialize in rehabilitation for children, general medicine, gynecology, pediatrics, obstetrics, neurology, dental, family medicine, psychology, counseling, social work and much more.
This experience will provide numerous individuals with access to care that would not otherwise recieve it and help me gain skills as a furture physician. Besides bridging the gap between two cultures, I think the most important thing will be to provide hope to individuals for a better tomorrow.
YOU CAN HELP!
While there can be no greater joy than providing education and relief to an individual, the cost of this trip puts strain on medical school loans and limits the amount of supplies that I can bring to the communities. It is this reason that I am asking you for help. Together let us heal the world and provide hope for an individual.
