In August this year Joanne Voller threatened my life. It is not the first time Joanne has made threats towards me or my husband and we not alone as one of her targets for abuse in our hometown. It won't be the last time if we do not stand up to this abhorrent behaviour. I have applied for a Personal Violence Order so that I may be free to live, work and simply walk through the streets of my hometown without threat of her abuse or violence. Just in the last week Joanne has taunted me in a shopping centre while breaching her bail conditions and interim orders. In the coming weeks Joanne will face charges for her threats of violence. As many of you know I am a campaigner against abuse and family violence which is being played out in epidemic proportions in my part of the world. My work in this space is crucial if we want to see lasting changes for victims of violence but it can't be done without the support of the wider community. I have engaged a criminal lawyer to fight in my corner so that the full force of the law is applied in my case but I need your help to be able to cover my legal costs. Fighting my case is another step toward reducing violence in our communities. It also highlights the dangers when criminals are protected and elevated to victim status by the media and their supporters while they continue to break the law. You will help me ensure that a strong message is conveyed to those who think they can get away with criminal behaviour, that as Australians we do not tolerate violence and abuse. Please help in whatever way you can, your support is most appreciated.

  • Price is doing what seems right to me. Aboriginal advancement must be led by aborigines wanting full and independent participation in the wider Australian society, not just "gimme money".
