It is something SO simple but it can make a whole world of DIFFERENCE

A schoolgirl without sanitary pads, which are way too costly misses 6 weeks of school every year.

Embarrassment, shame and a lack of understanding of what is happening to their bodies can keep the girls away from school, their friends thereby impacting negatively on their academic performance.

We can do something to help. This year, through your kindness and generosity we have been able to purchase and distribute 1800 sanitary pads getting us to a total of 4800 since we started about three and a half years ago.

We are approaching another year, the girls haven’t stopped menstruating, their economic and conditions haven’t changed, this can only change when they stay in school, learn, get good grades, go to college and get some employment. We are glad to report that most of the girls we support have recorded an improvement in their academics.

We have to ensure they stay in school for this to happen. The supply of sanitary pads has to continue.

Here we are as Periods Of Dignity Initiative knocking again to speak about this on their behalf and ASK for YOUR support.

Donate to support us in this endeavor.

When a girl faces obstacles in managing her menses in a healthy way, she is at risk for infection, her self-esteem and self-confidence suffer, she may remain absent from school during her period, or worse still, drop out of school altogether upon reaching puberty. Over time, these negative effects add up, preventing a young girl from achieving her full potential and having a healthy, productive life.

Periods Of Dignity Initiative responding to this crisis by supplying free Sanitary Pads to young girls In the slums of Homa Bay County.

We are grateful to move together with you in this journey of transforming lives your, donations makes all this possible. We are hopeful your donation will keep more young girls empowered with diginity.

Dollar by dollar we will be able to greatly impact on the lives of these precious girls.

Your contribution has enabled us to:-

1. Protect the young girls against the sex predators who use the sanitary towels as baits to lure the girls into giving in to their sexual advances and exploitation.

2. Reduced risk of contracting HIV and AIDS. The sexual and reproductive health sessions that we have with the girls have made them aware of the dangers posed by engaging in unprotected sex and they have also learnt how to say NO to the sex predators. This has made them less at risk of being infected with HIV and other STIs

3. Their Dignity, Self-esteem and self-worth has greatly been enhanced and improved. They are no longer an object of ridicule during their menses as the sanitary pads provided have effectively concealed it. The boys can no longer know when aunty flow visits.

4. Renewed hopes of completing primary school and transiting to secondary school. This means a bright future ahead for those who will be able to complete secondary and join some college.

5. The girls are no longer at risk of getting impregnated at an early age.

Hit the donate button and change a life for the better. Thanks for backing and supporting PODI.

Geographic location is a factor that leads to the spread of HIV in Kenya. with 65% of all new infections occur in nine out of the country’s 47 counties – mainly on the west coast of Kenya. In particular, new HIV infections in major cities Nairobi and Mombasa increased by more than 50% (from a collective total of 4,707 in 2013 to 7,145 in 2018). As a result, HIV prevalence ranges from from 0.1% in Wajir to 25.4%in Homa Bay.

With prevalence rate of 25.4% there is need to protect the girls and young people from contracting the virus.

Lack of something as simple as Sanitary pads may force a girl to offer her body so as to get it. She won't be able to negotiate safe sex, this predispose her to a greater risk of contracting HIV and AIDS or even teen pregnancy. These may spell doom to he future prospects.

This isn't a need we all think about because we are all blessed. But because eve you me it is a real need that may spell doom to he liife of somebody if not met. This is a compelling reason as to why your donation to this cause is very vital.

We appreciate all the effort you are putting in place to help PODI aquire and distribute sanitary pads to the girls that need them most.

God bless you
