Performing On The Italian Stage

WHO AM I?
My name is Destini Mewborn. I am a vibrant actress from Charlotte, NC. I am a 2014 graduate of Rocky River High School in Charlotte, NC. I am currently a student North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina. I am currently a senior working towards my BA in Theater with a concentration in Performance. Once I complete my education I plan to move to Atlanta, Georgia and work as an Background Extra on films and television series' while taking classes and audition for live theatre and behind the camera. My ultimate goal is to be an ambassador for the United Nations but in the mean time I would like to touch, help, and move people through my craft. Being the best me I can be to change the world and help make it a better place is my life aspiration.

WHAT I PLAN TO DO?
i have been one of the few selected to travel to Bologna, Italy for a Hip-Hop in Italy Study Abroad Trip sponsored by ieiMedia. There i will be able to take classes in photography, Italian, History of Hip Hop, and Theater. I will have the opportunity to create, write, design, choreograph, publicize, and bring to life an entire full length show in less than a month, from scratch, for the entire Italian community. This program is a full month long and starts in June to early/mid July.

So, I decided I will hop on this opportunity and take a leap of faith to complete this program. The saying is “Don’t Start Something You Can’t Finish”, right? Well, I plan to finish it!

I plan to fund raise and sell baked goods over the next couple of months in order to pay for the plane tickets, spending money, and my living expenses. If my plan doesn’t follow through by April, my backup plan is to become a personal coupon shopper for people locally and get a few extra roles during spring break. Which I may already start doing that in order to keep up my the costs of everyday life.

WHERE IS THE MONEY GOING?
I have $1,500 of my own saved up to take with me. My goal is to raise $6000 more in order to $5,000 for tuition and $1000 as a cushion for unexpected expenses abroad in order to give myself a safe space to travel financially. I have yet to purchase anything seeing as though I was just accepted, however, the application fee of $500 is due my the end of the month.

All of the donations will go towards my tuition for the school, housing, food, and emergency expenses.

I will be sending postcards and photos from Bologna to all donations of $100 or more. I will also live video call individuals during my stay, including a Post Card from Bologna for all donations of $200 or more to give you a personalized update of your investment (If you don't mind sharing your contact through Whatsapp).
