Perfectchange18 , Funding for homeless!

Hi guys!We are four students from Bellarine Secondary College who are currently studying year 12. Our first goal is to raise $1000 plus, which is to go to homeless living on our streets of Geelong. There is currently 105,000 people living on the streets of Australia and half of these people are youths like us. Did you know that 1 dollar could help, 5 dollars could give them a meal and that 20 dollars can give them a safe place to sleep? “Homelessness is not a choice that people make, it happens” Homelessness is defined as when a person is left without a stable home and lacks the economic and social support that a home normally has. He/she is often cut off from the support of relatives and friends, and has few independent resources.

We are working with a non-profit Organisation Called the Big umbrella. The big umbrella works to connect with and assist disadvantaged members of Geelings local community and also have international projects.

The projects are:

A real change: Melbourne city mission team working on the street to help assist homeless youths to help support and reduce and target Melbourne’s homeless youth.

A real meal: Operates twice a week on Flinders St Station. They work to connect the community with the bridge gap in today’s society. They provide food, friendship and companionship for the homeless.

The Big Umbrella house Nepal: The Big Umbrella House is a home to 20 children, who once lived on the streets on Nepal, all of whom have passed their entrance exams and attend school daily. The farther Bob Maguire Foundation provides 14 of these children with full education and scholarships.

Campaign 147- Vietnam: The Big Umbrella works in conjunction with Blue Dragon, raising awareness about human trafficking. These kids are street kids, children from very poor families and victims of human trafficking and slavery. They providing food and shelter to kids on the street to rescuing girls from a brothels and support their education. Blue Dragon gives children a new chance in life.
