Pepper Spray Campaign

Update posted by Karabo Moshodi On Jun 13, 2020

On March 6th, Friday , we hosted our second pop-up in Braamfontein and we gave out 200 free pepper sprays to young women on the buzzing streets of Braamfontein.

Braamfontein is a central suburb of Johannesburg, in South Africa. The area contains multi-storey buildings most of which have been converted to student residential apartment. The offices of the Johannesburg City Council, University of Witwatersrand and the Nelson Mandel Bridge are some of the popular landmarks. Braamfonteing also boast a vibrant nightlife and rich street culture, we could's think of a better place to host the pop-up!

The morning started off a bit slow, with many of the student rushing to class and others walking away from us thinking we are trying to sell them something (awkward😅), but within a few minutes, word got out and groups of girls were literally chasing the volunteers to get a spray, it was overall a success and the team was very happy with the event.

We would like to thank all our supporters that make this possible. We look forward to our next pop-up!

This past Thursday 30 January, we had our very first pop-op and we donated 200 pepper sprays to WITS students during O-week.

We need your help to go to UJ next.

I had the privilege to be listening to 702 this morning when you were on the radio. What an amazing calling you have been given. We are a very small start up business and would like to make a contribution of R3000,00 towards your campaign. Best wishes. MavenPoint
