People of Oroquieta Clean Up Movement
Bounded on the eastern side by Iligan Bay, Oroquieta City is the capital of Misamis Occidental. The eastern side of the city is characterized by lowland plains and coastal lowlands while the western side are noted for its highlands and mountains such as Mount Malindang, a national park that houses endangered species like the Philippine Eagle.
Oroquieta City was once one of the cleanest and greenest cities in the Philippines. Its Layawan River was awarded the cleanest river in the Philippines in 2002.
But as time passed, Oroquieta became a progressive place and part of the progress is the trash in some parts of its natural spots such as the riverbanks and seaside. The clean and green program is unremarked by the people. Our ocean waters are being polluted and plastics can be seen in riverbanks.
Our team would like to help by initiating and providing materials to some volunteer groups in doing some clean up drives in riverbanks and seaside, and protect our common home by using community volunteers to help enforce the law.
We are a group of volunteers, all of whom are from Oroquieta City.
Your funding will help us to continue our tourism awareness activities and expand our efforts to protect the once the cleanest and greenest city in the Philippines. Any size of donation is welcome, and we will use 100% of what we receive to continue this cause. Your funding will help in:
- Providing materials and food to volunteers during cleanup operations;
- Helping to train the volunteers in recycling and in spreading awareness in our communities;
- Clean up efforts in our communities;
- Taking our advocacy to our community leaders who can help protect our environment
