Imagine if your mother or grandmother had to live on the street or in a car in her Golden Years (60, 70, 80) due to a severe shortage of affordable homes and an income far below the Federal government poverty guidelines. She would suffer from sleep deprivation, stress, fear, lack of resources (food, rest rooms, gas, places to BE/STAY during the day, and be subject to the elements — rain, snow, cold, heat). She would become chronically ill from living without a home and eventually die on the street or in her car.

She would become a refugee right in your own neighborhood / back yard.

Have you lost a loved one due to lack of a home / poverty? How many people do you know who have died because they did not have a home? Do you know someone that is sick and in the process of dying due to not having a home? Do you know them by name? Are they friends, relatives, loved ones lost to the streets or living in cars?

I can think of one lady, Smokie, who was built a tiny temporary home by Elvis Summers in Los Angeles a few years ago. After her home was confiscated by the police (and returned broken), she died. This grandmother had been sleeping in the dirt for years. She was Elvis’ neighbor and he wanted to help her restore her life with her own sanctuary that so many people take for granted.

In honor of Smokie and the many hundreds of thousands of people who have died due to not having a home, I want to create a MEMORIAL, like the AIDS Memorial Quilt, with NAMES on each square to honor the dead and dying and to make visible the epidemic and lack of affordable housing crisis we are experiencing all across the nation NOW.

ANYONE CAN SPONSOR A LADY

Josie, 75, lives in a car with 2 mini poodles; Sara, 62, lives in a car with Teddy Bear doggie; Jenny, 48, lives in car with a terrier; Pat, 78, lives in car with a terrier…senior women who have lived this way for 5–10 years now.

Millions of dollars are spent every year to house dogs and cats but for senior women without homes? Millions are spent NOT housing us. American taxpayers are paying three times MORE to NOT house people.

WOOF WOOF WOOF

I also want to create Memorials for the dogs who have lost their lives due to lack of homes because their human did not have a home including my own Cici dog, 13, who just went over the rainbow.

Please write down and send us the name(s) of people you know. And help us create a Memorial Quilt with squares of Homes, Tents, Sleeping Bags for People Without Homes. People who have been vilified, are being discriminated against and banned from our society, for not having a home. People who have been stereotyped as being alcoholics, drug addicts, mentally ill and/or undesirable to polite society. People who are regularly stored away, warehoused in shelters that are drug, bug and crime infested just to keep them OUT OF SIGHT… INVISIBLE.

Sponsors for this quilt will lift one person up and into a home, be it a camper, RV or actual home. If you can offer jobs to people who are qualified to work but have not been able to find jobs, please let us know.

You can truly MAKE A DIFFERENCE and SAVE LIVES for people who have been thrown away like trash to die without dignity, living a miserable life without privacy, suffering needlessly and dying because they lost their homes due to loss of a job, illness, domestic violence/abuse and/or low income.
