Campaign Story
The tsunami around the Sunda Strait occurred after the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau. It is estimated that dozens of people were killed and hundreds injured. Damage to hundreds of buildings is inevitable.
The tsunami hit the coast around the Sunda Strait, precisely in Pandeglang, Banten, Serang, and South Lampung Regencies. The disaster occurred on Saturday, December 22, 2018, precisely at 21:27 WIB. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts tsunamis caused by underwater landslides due to the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau and high waves due to the full moon. The two combinations caused a sudden tsunami that hit the coast. BMKG is still coordinating with the Geology Agency to ascertain the causes.
According to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) until 07.00 WIB Sunday 23/12/2018, temporary data on the number of victims due to the tsunami in the Sunda Strait recorded 43 people died, 584 people were injured and 2 people were missing. Among the names that were lost and died were seventeen band members and a parody group Aa Jimmy.
The areas that were severely affected were settlements and tourist attractions in Pandeglang, Serang, and South Lampung Regencies. Areas exposed to disasters are thought to be quite extensive and some points are still isolated.
With all the situations that are still uncertain, it is our obligation as the Indonesian Nation to work together to help Banten, Lampung and its surroundings.
