Help us Build the Peace in Chicago on Peace Day!

We all know that our city needs more Peace. Especially the children. Peace Day in Chicago brings communities and cultures together to take positive action for peace. Support this event! It celebrates cultural diversity in our city and world, and the unique contributions each one of us can make for a new vision of Chicago: a Vision of Peace. For students, Peace Day opens young hearts and minds, inspiring students to become leaders and peacemakers in their schools, neighborhoods, Chicago and the world.

Support our outreach to students across the city so we can provide them with transportation to Chicago’s large public Peace Day event on September 18th. Students are active participants as they join the Call to Peace, putting voices together to proclaim, “Peace in [each country of the world, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe]”. Some students carry flags in the procession of the world’s nations. The Call to Peace and World Peace Flag Ceremony create a living geography lesson, a moving experience of unity and hope, providing powerful memories that last a lifetime.

Support our program of providing Peace Day materials to every school in the Chicago Public Schools system, giving teachers and students the chance to do peacebuilding activities in their schools on September 21st, the U.N. International Day of Peace. These fun, educational and inspirational activities teach practical tools that allow students to make a real difference in their own lives and communities by learning how to put peace into action.

Peace Day in Chicago was founded in 1978 by The Peace School (short name for the International Association for World Peace) a non-profit educational organization serving Chicago and the world since 1972. Chicago’s Peace Day event is held in cooperation with the United Nations International Day of Peace, established in 1981.

Help us go above and beyond our goal so we can expand our efforts to build a Culture of Peace in Chicago! Thank you!
