Hello!

If you’re close to me, you probably know about my debt of $5,200 with the university. This student loan, was to be able to pay for an Internship program called “Study trip to Europe 2017” in which I had the opportunity of interviewing different types of hotels and restaurants, while doing an investigation of each country and their hotel and restaurant industry.

I already had half the money saved up in my “piggy bank” but when hurricane María passed by Puerto Rico last year, I had to use all the money since I was the only one in my family who had money in cash. This was and has been devastating since I had to put aside other goals and priorities. For example: All the money that I am earning or saving, goes directly to the “piggy bank” and I have put aside the goal of earning for a car, earning to be able to represent my country in a choir contest in Barcelona, Spain this October, saving up for food, books for my university and other factors that I just had to put aside.

This is the only thing I ask for my birthday. I aspire to continue studying, to represent my country, to graduate in less than a year with Magna Cum Laude, and so much more that I know I can if I put to rest this student loan. If it weren’t for Hurricane María, I would have already paid that debt off but things got more complicated that we all (my family) anticipated.
