Campaign Story
So, I am off to Uganda!!
I have been accepted into a program with a wonderful organization called Global Volunteer Network. I will be in country volunteering for two and half months beginning April 1st. I am so excited and nervous too! I have been placed in a town called Ntenjeru, with an NGO - The Real Uganda, working with an organization called VOLSET. Please see links below to learn more about these NGO's.
I will be teaching primary school at Future Diplomats, playing with the children, loving them, and yes, teaching them how to Paint !! I will also be doing community outreach with mothers and children
with HIV, providing counseling and education, and whatever else is asked of me. My goal is to help show these children that there is a chance for a brighter future.
Also, I will have the good fortune whilst there to work alongside the founder and CEO of GVN, Colin Salisbury, for one week on a Distribution Trip with 10 other international participants like myself, that would like to learn more about an organization such as this. I will learn about how non-profits operate and how funds are allocated. I will meet and spend time with the women and children benefiting from Eat So They Can, I will travel to the communities and see first-hand the life changing progress being made through these efforts.
FUNDRAISING:
What I am also learning is that volunteering does not come cheap!! So I am doing a round of fundraising to help off-set some of the cost of this trip. With the two programs, airfare and immunizations, I have spent $6000.00 to fulfill this dream and pay it forward. If you find it a worthy cause and are able, I would
appreciate any contribution you could make.. Please feel free to forward this to anyone you know!
If I were to surpass my goal of $6000.00, I will contribute any excess funding to The Real Uganda and GVN, and personally see to it that any money goes towards needed improvements for the children and the community

I just came back from this project, and after volunteering in many countries around the world, THIS project inspired me above all the rest. Roseann, you're going to leave quite a mark with VOLSET.
