Hello World! My name is Elvis I'm priviledged to study BSc. in Applied Computing at a local private institution in Kenya, my home country, and recent events (Coronavirus) have led to the indefinite closure of all schools including mine.
I've installed wi-fi in our home for my 2 siblings and I enjoy what the internet has to offer.
I have proceeded to register for two CS50 courses Havard University is offering on edX thinking it was free, but there's a fee one has to pay to receive the certificate of completion. The courses are;
1. Introduction to computer science, $90
Since i can't afford that, I've successfully applied for financial aid and edX have given me a coupon for 90% off 1 course, reducing the fee to $104.
$104 for the two courses and
$200 for a decent laptop since I use my phone to study. We share the same desktop computer amongst all family members and it's always occupied.
The deadline i have to pay for the certificates is for 31st December 2020.
These courses are very important to me because they will add significant weight to my portfolio and add credibility to me as a job seeker in the future. I also require the skills because my country's syllabus is outdated and doesn't equip one with knowledge required to compete in the 21st century, but merely teaches for testing and exams. We don't really prioritize tech in the third world, mostly business and agriculture have all the limelight. Plus in my country the 'bigger' the name of the institution in your papers, the more likely you are to be selected for employment.
I have a passion for web design, here's some of my work
The sites are offline because i cannot pay for hosting.
I also design logos though i'm not good at it;
Kindly assist me in earning this, it would mean the world to a child of the sun ;-)
Thank you, may heavens rain blessings upon you
