The Philippines is one of the fastest growing countries in Southeast Asia in terms of population. From 1980's fifty million inhabitants, the Philippines now has approximately one hundred million inhabitants, eleven million of them resides in Manila only. Living place is becoming increasingly saturated. This overcrowding is causing a range of problems such as lack of education, lack of healthcare, unemployment and extreme poverty.
Employment in the provinces is scarce; reason to which some people go to Manila, the capital city of the Philippines to work. But due to overpopulation, most people don't end up with jobs as well and they end up in the streets.
Christmas in the Philippines is very unique and it's extraordinarily joyful. But for these people in the streets, this Christmas is just another day they will have to surpass as they struggle. This Christmas, I, together with one of my friends decided we would want to give back to our community.
Our plan: We will be raising around $800 to give out food, clean water, and hygienic kits to at least 50 families and individuals residing in the streets on Christmas Day. We will be walking around Manila prioritizing the poorer areas to hand out our humble presents to these people. We will be documenting some of the details of our trip so you will be able to see how a small amount of money can bring great joy to these people. You will be able to view the final documentation of our trip in my youtube page and I will be sending out thank you emails to all of you.
If we don't reach the amount we need: We will still be making use of what we've raised. It might not help 50 people, but it might still be a blessing to one.
Thank you for being a blessing to the people of the Philippines! I will be sending you emails for updates.
