I am Karlo Jayson Abila, a 2nd year Accountancy Student of Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges. I have been active in pushing forward youth development and empowerment for the last 8 years, having been a member of the Youth Council of our village in General Santos City for three years, and a co- founder of Sandigan ng Kabataan Movement Philippines, a youth organization.

I am delighted to inform you that I have been chosen as one of the delegates to the Asia Pacific Youth Exchange 2017, now on its 3rd year, which will take place in Manila on January 04- 15, 2017. I have been selected based on my commitment to and engagement in the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, also known as Global Goals.

Young people in the Asia and the Pacific region represent a crucial stakeholder group whose potentials are yet to be harnessed. APYE will be a perfect training ground to encourage engagement and investment in these young people, like me. Policies - national, regional and global - that will shape important future guidelines such as the SDGs are in youth's hands.

We, the youth, will demonstrate powerfully that the next generation can contribute towards the achievement of the SDGs for a sustainable world for this and the next generations. APYE is also an international stage in which governments, civil society, and other crucial participating stakeholders will get to see and hone the potential of APYE delegates.

A Primer on Asia Pacific Youth Exchange Program

Only 150 delegates have been chosen to attend APYE 2017 and I am honored to be one of them.

However, due to financial constraints, I will not be able to provide for the participation fee of the said event. Being a student and without having any means to pay for the participation fee, I am afraid I will not be able to attend such an important youth event which is really heart- shattering.

I belong to a lower middle class family, my mother being a teacher for 31 years, and my father, bedridden. I cannot ask from my family to give me such a big amount to attend the said program.

I believe that with your help, I will be able to be an effective advocate of SDG 10 or "Reducing Inequalities", an issue very close to my heart, through my attendance in the said youth forum.

I am not in the position to urge you to help me as you also have a lot of priorities to attend to. But this I assure you, I will not disappoint you once you decide to help me. I will provide you with outputs and documentations of what I have learned from the said program.

Your positive response on this matter is earnestly sought. I pray your good soul will grant my utmost wish. May God bless you!
