Participation for India International Behavioural Art Festival – 2023

We are Ogha Collective, a group of performance artists from rural Sri Lanka based in the Anuradhapura district. We have been engaging on performance art platforms addressing the social, cultural , environmental and political issues over the past two years across the entire country.

Recently, we have been invited to participate and perform at the Indian International Behavioural Art Festival (IIBAF) from 4th - 8th January 2023 all the way in Kochi Biennale Foundation , India which will be our first overseas experience. Therefore, this would be a great opportunity for us to display our works in such platforms and learn from other international artists.

CONCEPT:

“MIRAGE ON EARTH”- Illusion on earth considering the Ecology and Human rights as the main agenda. Recently we have been watching and listening to the exploitation of life on every part of the world, may be its war that damages ecology, may be its people exploiting or power exploiting people’s right. This performance is all about that. How its damaging ecology as well as human rights.

Art has been playing a vital role in sending messages and moving masses to understand any situation. We believe that ongoing situation may change by portrayal of art and we are just being a catalyst to change what’s happening through Performance art. Nature gives what we give to her and that’s y we give ignorance nature gives ignorance to our problems, regardless How much we pray but ignorance towards ecology and human rights will eliminate all sorts of freedom that human can’t even imagine, if we don’t narrow it down as soon as possible. We will portray all this in a “Performance art”.

To achieve this goal, we are in need of assistance to cover our flight costs, domestic travel costs, food and accomodations for five artists. We are all 10 members to participate. But five of us are unable to afford that cost financially at the moment. So for each person, the cost to fly from Colombo to Chennai (which is the cheapest way) with return flight is approximately $190 USD, as for five people, the total cost needed is $950 USD, plus for rest expenses we are in a need of a total budget $ 1000 USD.

So we kindly request you to support us to fulfill our first overseas experience in an international performance art platform.

After this tour , we ensure to provide an account record to all supporters on how we used your donations during this festival will relevant bills and proof documents .
