PAROW HIGH SCHOOL EMERGENCY FUND

The 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic has had a massive effect on the lives and livelihoods of billions of people on Earth. The Parow High School family has not been spared as many of our parents have lost all or part of their livelihoods. This is having a knock-on effect for the school as our school fee collection has decreased dramatically.

The threat of School Governing Body staff layoffs is a distinct reality baring down upon the school. Funds for several day-to-day aspects of school operation are under serious threat too.

A few years ago the school created a Caring Fund which raised a good amount of money over the years which was used to help our less fortunate learners with everything from uniforms, stationary, sports equipment, daily meals, hampers for the holiday periods, and even supermarket vouchers for families during the lockdown. Alas, the Caring Fund has been depleted on the supermarket vouchers (R2500 per week for 10 weeks), and we need to find a way to raise more money for the school as well as the Caring Fund.

Monies raised on this platform will be accounted for publicly and will be administered by the school’s financial team and the School Governing Body. The monies will be used where the SGB deems this necessary and for the Caring Fund.

It is our hope that those who are associated with the school and are in a better financial position would be able to contribute, even in the smallest amounts, to the school’s financial situation. For Parow to keep #MovingForward we need all the help we can get.

Die 2020-Kovid-19-pandemie het 'n massiewe uitwerking op die lewens en lewensbestaan van miljarde mense op aarde gehad. Die Hoërskool Parow-gesin is nie gespaar nie, omdat baie van ons ouers hul lewensonderhoud verloor het. Dit het 'n uitwerking op die skool aangesien die invordering van skoolgeld dramaties afgeneem het.

Die bedreiging van die ontslag van personeel van die Skoolbeheerliggaam is 'n duidelike werklikheid wat die skool sal ondermyn. Fondse vir verskillende daaglikse aspekte van skoolbedrywighede word ook bedreig.

Die skool het 'n paar jaar gelede 'n Caring Fonds opgerig wat oor die jare 'n goeie bedrag ingesamel het wat gebruik is om ons minderbevoorregte leerders te help met alles van uniforms, skryfbehoeftes, sporttoerusting, daaglikse etes, kospakkies vir die vakansietye, en selfs supermarkbewyse vir gesinne tydens die inperking. Helaas, die Caring Fonds is op die koopbewyse van supermarkte (R2500 per week vir tien weke) uitgeput, en ons moet 'n manier vind om meer geld in te samel vir die skool sowel as die Caring Fonds.

Gelde wat op hierdie platform ingesamel word, word in die openbaar verantwoord en sal deur die skool se finansiële span en die skoolbeheerliggaam geadministreer word. Die gelde sal gebruik word waar die SBL dit nodig ag en vir die Caring Fonds.

Dit is ons hoop dat diegene wat met die skool geassosieer is en in 'n beter finansiële posisie is, selfs in die kleinste hoeveelhede, tot die finansiële situasie van die skool kan bydra. Vir Parow om #MovingForward te handhaaf, het ons al die hulp nodig wat ons kan kry.
